The Friends of Beach Haven on April 30 told the Borough Council that a donor has offered to fund design and rebuilding of an enlarged pavilion at Veterans Park (Veterans Court). Ken Rubin, president of the Friends group, said the donor is prepared to pay for designs and construction work but that any final plan would require council approval and municipal permitting.
Sally Poblete, vice president of Friends of Beach Haven, said an expanded pavilion would create more shade and seating, make room for larger bands during the summer concert series, and allow new programming such as yoga, art classes and additional community events. Council members responded positively, urging accessible design (ramps, seating for people with walkers and wheelchairs) and sound-system improvements to support concerts and programming.
Council members described the gift as "attractive" and encouraged the Friends group to pursue design work with an eye to accessibility and municipal approvals. The council emphasized that any final scheme would come back for formal review and permitting.
