The Beach Haven Borough Council unanimously approved Ordinance 2025-10C on April 30, 2025, limiting the sale of daily pickleball passes to between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. The change follows a seasonal pilot intended to reduce crowding and better allocate playtime among seasonal, weekly and daily pass holders.
Margie McGlynn, who said she chaired the parks subcommittee’s subcommittee on racket-sport scheduling, presented pilot data from Nelson Avenue showing fewer people waiting to play during staggered sales. McGlynn cited a July sample: an average of 12 players waiting at 9 a.m. versus up to 24 waiting at 10 a.m., and told the council that attendants’ data and player feedback suggested the new rule improved access and decreased neighbor complaints.
Council members moved to approve the ordinance in a roll-call vote and recorded unanimous support. The council said it will continue monitoring wait times and the impact of the change, and the parks committee will report back if further adjustments are advisable.
