Egg Harbor Township School District facilitators presented survey findings and organized a gallery-walk to collect community input for a three-year strategic plan.
During a podcast-style recap of the first strategic-planning night, presenters highlighted strong appreciation for teachers across many teams and repeated concerns about district communication practices. "What's really striking... is the huge appreciation for the teachers and staff," a presenter said, while other participants flagged "too many funnels of communication" and inconsistent messages.
The district summarized survey priorities for facilities: "planning for future growth was number 1," the Moderator said, followed by specific concerns about overcrowding and the need to improve HVAC systems. Student supports also emerged as a priority, with several teams calling for more mental-health resources, academic interventions and attention to transitions between grade levels.
Facilitator (S8) explained the evening's gallery-walk format: participants will rotate among stations (facilities, communications, student supports, staff support and a potpourri station), spend roughly 10 minutes at each table, use butcher paper to record ideas and keep dots for later prioritization. The Moderator closed the meeting by scheduling the committee to reconvene on May 21 to compile dot-vote results and convert priorities into goals and objectives to be incorporated by district administration into action plans.
No formal votes or policy adoptions took place during the meeting; the session was an information-gathering and prioritization exercise for the strategic plan.
