Summary
By unanimous votes, the Lodi Unified board authorized purchase of 10 zero‑emission buses using grant funds, accepted a $1.8 million EV infrastructure award and ratified a CSEA tentative agreement; several consent items passed 7–0.
The Lodi Unified School District Board on April 7 approved multiple action items, including use of grant funds to buy zero‑emission school buses, acceptance of an electric‑vehicle infrastructure grant and ratification of a tentative agreement with the California School Employees Association (CSEA).
During the meeting staff said the district had been granted up to $7,600,000 for as many as 100 zero‑emission buses under the ZEB program and that the district would proceed with purchasing 10 buses using $3,600,000 of that award. "At this time, we're going to move forward with 10 of those buses for $3,600,000 of that grant," a district presenter said. The board approved the related resolution and a piggyback procurement 7–0.
The board also approved Resolution 2026‑40 to accept $1,800,000 from the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District to install EV charging infrastructure to support the buses and authorized a construction amendment with Schneider Electric; that item passed 7–0.
In other action the board ratified a tentative agreement with CSEA and approved both Consent Agenda A and Consent Agenda B, with votes recorded as 7–0 on the consent motions. A public commenter representing the Lodi Education Association questioned continued contracting with ESS and urged consideration of in‑house staffing instead of outsourcing.
All of the above items were routine motions presented by staff and adopted without recorded dissent; board members did not request additional public hearings on the measures during the meeting.
