Beardstown council files consent agenda, reviews financial and ambulance reports

At its Feb. 24 special meeting Beardstown’s council approved the minutes and consent agenda, received city financial and ambulance reports for January 2025, and recorded disbursements; the meeting adjourned at 5:05 p.m.
The Beardstown City Council convened a special session Feb. 24, 2025, at Beardstown City Hall. Mayor Tim Harris presided and City Clerk Brian Ruch recorded attendance; Alderpersons Lisa Buhlig, Ron Culves, Mary Davis, Eric Harbin, Keith Schramm, Dawn Seward and Shawn Taylor were present and Chris Baer was absent.
The council approved the minutes of the Feb. 4, 2025 meeting on a motion by Alderperson Eric Harbin, seconded by Alderperson Mary Davis; the voice vote was unanimous. The council then approved and filed the routine reports on the consent agenda on a motion by Alderperson Dawn Seward, seconded by Alderperson Eric Harbin; the omnibus motion passed unanimously by roll call vote.
City Clerk Brian Ruch reported January 2025 cash receipts of $789,797.30 and cash disbursements of $897,885.21. The City Treasurer reported combined-account balances including General Fund $3,069,589.14, Special Revenue Funds $4,020,985.30, Bond Sinking Funds $1,027,751.56 and other designated funds such as ARPA Grant $520,590.64 and Harbor Development Fund $119,370.83. Overtime and part‑time pay totals for January were recorded: Ambulance $25,745.67; Fire $2,987.92; Police $13,345.25; Public Works/Cemetery/City Hall $8,629.35.
Ambulance activity for January 2025 was recorded as 62 Beardstown calls (total charges $61,036.00; collections $27,914.27) and 38 Virginia calls (total charges $36,050.00; collections $11,902.26). The minutes also note disbursements for the period ending Feb. 18, 2025.
After consideration of those reports and the two formal actions recorded in the minutes, the council adjourned at 5:05 p.m. on a motion by Alderperson Mary Davis, seconded by Alderperson Dawn Seward.
