Weld County to apply for $8 million in Community Project Funding for two roundabouts

Weld County commissioners authorized staff March 16 to submit two Community Project Funding applications seeking a combined $8 million for separate roundabout projects.
Evan Pinkham of the Department of Public Works told the board the county will seek $3 million through Representative Bobert’s office for a roundabout at County Road 59 and State Highway 52. "The request is for $3,000,000 and it's for the roundabout project there on County Road 59 and State Highway 52," Pinkham said, and added that the Colorado Department of Transportation will manage that project and Weld County would be a project partner.
Pinkham also asked the board to authorize submission of a $5 million request through Representative Evans’s office for realignment and roundabout construction at County Roads 13 and 50, noting that the county is partnering with Larimer County and the town of Johnstown on the second project. "The request is for $5,000,000 for this request here," he said.
Commissioners moved and seconded the resolutions to authorize both applications; both motions passed unanimously. The board did not take further action on project design or local match requirements at the March 16 meeting; Pinkham said CDOT would manage the first project and that the county was a partner on both applications.
