Kewanee council approves demolition, land conveyance and transfer-station compliance; clears consent agenda

The Council also approved payment of bills totaling $2,152,903.24 after staff answered clarifying questions about specific line items including a motor replacement for Well #1 and contracting work billed by IMED and Hutchison.
Demolition (Bill 25-64): The Council awarded demolition of a dilapidated structure at 500 Fifth Ave to Nanninga Construction, selecting the standard brick and concrete fill approach after considering two bid formats. The resolution passed 5-0.
Land conveyance to IDOT (Bill 25-65): The Council approved transferring the City’s interest in specified real estate and granting temporary and permanent easement rights to the Illinois Department of Transportation to allow widening and roadwork on W. 6th St. (Route 81). Meeting materials referenced a 'Tenney subdivision'; staff clarified that this refers to Route 81/W. 6th St., not Tenney St.
Solid Waste compliance (Bill 25-66): After earlier site issues with drainage and trash were remedied, Council authorized the City Manager to execute an agreement demonstrating the City will operate the Kewanee Transfer Station in compliance with Illinois EPA regulations. The resolution passed 5-0.
All measures noted above passed without recorded abstentions. Staff will proceed with contract execution and state conveyance paperwork as appropriate.
