Maywood trustees approve $2.53 million warrant list, multiple vendor payments and public-safety purchases; ordinance to change economic development commission F

The Village of Maywood Board of Trustees approved Warrant List No. 200480 totaling $2,530,250.30 during its Nov. 6, 2019 meeting and carried a bundled omnibus of vendor payments and contracts covering insurance premiums, engineering services, equipment purchases and event contracts.
Finance Director Lanya Satchell presented the warrant list and answered trustee questions about three check numbers flagged by Trustees K. Wellington and Nathaniel Booker. After discussion the board approved the warrant list unanimously.
The board also approved a series of procurement actions and contractual payments in an omnibus motion, including payments for health insurance premiums, janitorial services, pool electrical work and water services from the Village of Melrose Park. Several engineering and project resolutions were approved to advance the Roosevelt Road water service transfer and related design and construction services.
Public-safety purchases approved at the meeting included an amendment to the 2019 asphalt-patching bid ($19,450), authorization to buy portable extrication tools for the fire department from Air One Equipment, Inc. ($16,451) and acquisition of firefighter turnout gear from Fireground Supply ($8,194.86). Motions for these items passed unanimously.
One omnibus item was a $5,000 purchase of Thanksgiving gift cards to be donated to local food pantries; that motion passed. The board passed contracts for an iceless ice rink event and approved a settlement and general release in the federal civil-rights lawsuit James Stokes v. Village of Maywood, et al. (Case No. 18-C-3340).
An ordinance revising Title III, Section 31.41 (Economic Development Commission) failed on a recorded vote. Ayes were Trustees A. Sanchez, M. Lightford and Nathaniel Booker; Nays were Mayor Edwenna Perkins and Trustees Isiah Brandon, Miguel Jones and K. Wellington. The motion failed 3–4.
The meeting concluded with the board moving into closed session to discuss the setting of a price for sale or lease of village-owned property under 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(6). The meeting adjourned at 12:32 a.m.
