Board recognizes students for literacy gains with Lexia program

The St. Landry Parish School Board opened its April 9 meeting with recognitions for students who made notable gains in the Lexia literacy program.
A central‑office staff member introduced literacy mentor Jamie Armitage, who told the board the program helps students close foundational skills gaps. Armitage said some fourth graders have progressed into fifth‑ and sixth‑grade Lexia materials, and the board and principals praised classroom teachers and instructional coaches for supporting that growth. Several students and teachers were recognized by name or school during the presentation.
Board members and the superintendent thanked paraprofessionals and other staff for their efforts and invited the public to upcoming student art and recognition events.
