Victor Valley Transit Authority to revise routes Oct. 6; Adelanto will see more frequent service on some lines

Victor Valley Transit Authority officials briefed the Adelanto City Council on a systemwide route revision set to begin Oct. 6, outlining changes intended to improve frequency and better serve new and growing neighborhoods in the High Desert.
Chris Ackerman, VVTA public information officer, told the council the agency worked with a consultant and community outreach to redesign routes. "Beginning October 6, VVTA will have new and revised bus routes in the High Desert for our communities," Ackerman said. He described three local impacts: Route 31 will be rerouted off Interstate 15, serve additional streets and run every 60 minutes (shortening headways from 70 minutes in some stretches); Route 32 will be streamlined along Gateway Drive and Innovation Way with discontinuation of service to a closed sports center; and Route 33 will be adjusted to provide additional service on Mohave Drive, Aster Road and Hook Boulevard.
Ackerman said the changes are designed to hit neighborhoods where growth is occurring, to provide better access to transit hubs and to coordinate with the city's park grand-opening events. He said transit staff will share detailed schedules and that VVTA will accept public comment through a review period that includes further surveys and a March 2025 evaluation of the changes.
Council members thanked VVTA for the outreach and asked about veteran transportation and microtransit expansion; Ackerman said VVTA's microtransit pilot is expanding north and that a CTSA (Consolidated Transportation Services Agency) division is working on veteran'transport programs. Council requested that VVTA consider attendance at the park grand-opening and to provide a printed schedule for the new Route 33 frequency.
VVTA directed residents to its routerefresh page for maps and timelines and said it will provide follow-up materials and staff contacts for event coordination.
