The Dixon Board of Education unanimously approved three formal actions at its Oct. 15, 2025 regular meeting: the FY26 insurance renewal, the second reading of board policies and the adoption of a Music First curriculum for Reagan Middle School.
The meeting record shows Mr. David Fritts moved to approve the insurance renewal for FY26, with Mrs. Melissa Gates seconding; the motion passed on a roll call vote with all six voting members present voting yea and none voting nay. Mrs. Gates moved and Mr. Brandon Rogers seconded approval of the second reading of board policies; that motion also passed unanimously. Mrs. Linda LeBlanc-Parks moved and Mr. Rogers seconded approval of the recommended Music First curriculum for Reagan Middle School, which had been piloted in Spring 2025 and was presented to the Board by Miss Ashley Almquist and Mr. Chris Hansen; the curriculum motion passed on a unanimous roll call vote.
The Board also approved personnel items in a single vote. The Board unanimously approved the hire of Anna Sirotsinska as a paraprofessional at Jefferson School, effective Oct. 16, 2025, and accepted the resignations of Elyse Drowns, custodian at Dixon High School (effective Oct. 3, 2025), and Brianna Grobe, Pre-K for All Parent Coordinator (effective Oct. 17, 2025). The personnel motion was made by Mr. Brandon Rogers and seconded by Mr. David Fritts and passed unanimously.
No votes failed or were recorded as abstentions during the Oct. 15 meeting. After approving routine and action items the Board adjourned to executive session at 7:28 p.m. to discuss personnel matters, potential real property purchase or lease, and student disciplinary cases; it returned to open session at 9:00 p.m. and adjourned the meeting at 9:00 p.m.
The Board did not adopt a differing timetable for implementation of the approved curriculum or policies at the meeting; follow-up implementation details and timelines were not specified in the meeting record.
