Harrison County commissioners adopt bond resolution, forward courthouse and ambulance funding to council

Harrison County commissioners met Feb. 17, 2026, in Corydon and adopted Resolution 2026-02, authorizing bond issuance related to the justice center renovation project. The three commissioners voted unanimously to adopt the resolution.
The meeting also included routine administrative approvals: the board approved regular claims and payroll, signed a public official bond for the county recorder and approved contracts presented by the health administrator. Two additional appropriation requests were forwarded to the county council for further action: $200,000 from the cumulative courthouse fund to cover upfront flood repair costs and $215,733 from the county’s riverboat fund share to pay for remounting an EMS ambulance. Both funding requests were forwarded to the county council by unanimous votes.
Commissioners approved a formal policy stating they do not wish to adopt a countywide noise ordinance at this time and that information on the subject will be posted on the county website. The board ratified signatures for a Title VI plan and policy previously submitted to INDOT because of a time-sensitive request by the state agency.
Several routine operational items were also approved, including extension of offers to four highway crew candidates and a memorandum of understanding and letter of engagement with Baker Tilly for a $30,000 TIF feasibility study, with the county to be reimbursed by the Economic Development Corporation and developer partners.
