District operations staff told the board the district received a grant to place automated external defibrillators (AEDs) on every school bus and to provide training for drivers and coaches.
"Tri County did receive a grant. We will be putting automatic internal external defibrillators or AEDs in every single 1 of our school buses," the board chair said during the operations report, adding paperwork is complete and training for drivers and coaches will be provided ahead of the next school year. The announcement said the rollout will include short buses that transport students to concerts, athletic events and other trips.
Officials said the district completed required paperwork and will certify drivers and other staff who will operate or carry the devices. The board framed the effort as a student‑safety enhancement and noted the devices will be part of broader health‑and‑safety planning described in the operations report.
The board did not provide a dollar amount for the grant during the meeting. Staff said devices and training will be in place by the start of the next school year and pointed to completed paperwork in their packet.
