Board hears public hearing on 2025 levy and receives district funding update

The West Chicago ESD 33 Board of Education held a public hearing on the district's proposed 2025 property tax levy at its Dec. 4 meeting. Karen Apostoli, Executive Director of Business and Operations, reviewed the levy process and said the board previously approved an intent to levy at its Nov. 20 meeting.
Apostoli told the board that notice of the public hearing was published in a local West Chicago newspaper on Nov. 24, 2025, and was posted on the district website in accordance with state law. She said the board plans to vote on an aggregate levy at its Dec. 18, 2025 meeting. No members of the public addressed the levy during the hearing.
Apostoli also provided a brief funding update. Since the last board meeting, the district received $1,209,173 in Evidence-Based Funding, $883,813.00 in 2026 IDEA flow-through funds, $495.00 in 2025 IDEA flow-through funds, and $11,992.00 in Title III language-instruction funds for limited-English students.
The hearing record notes the levy will be the subject of board action on Dec. 18; the business office directed community members to the district website for notice and documentation.
