Albany County approves application for state grant to add RV spots at fairgrounds, plans local match

Albany County commissioners approved submitting a grant application to the Wyoming Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Trust Fund to add roughly 25 RV spots at the county fairgrounds and directed staff to sign the application and a letter of commitment.
Bailey, the county grants manager, said the county will "stack" funding: apply for the state recreation grant now, pursue a Land and Water Conservation Fund application this fall (which requires a 50% match), and provide a local cash match of $100,037.50 from the county's economic development fund. Engineering estimates prepared for the project put the cost of 25 spots slightly above $600,000.
Bailey said the economic development account holds about $1 million and that the county will still owe a previously approved $100,000 commitment to an airport project. Commissioners approved the application and the associated letter of commitment.
