The Maxwell Municipal Schools board approved buying a 2006 Clayton mobile home at 232 6th Street in Maxwell for $24,000 to include in the district's teacher rental policy; the motion passed unanimously, 5-0.
The Maxwell Municipal Schools board voted to purchase a 2006 Clayton mobile home at 232 6th Street in Maxwell for $24,000, the board announced at a special meeting. The item was placed on the consent agenda and the motion to approve carried 5-0.
A staff member who presented the item said the property owner offered the trailer because she is moving to North Carolina and will not take the home with her. "It is a 2006 Clayton mobile home. It is two-bedroom, two-bath, has a newer hot water heater, a new roof, new siding, new windows," the staff member said, and added the owner plans to leave the carport, shed and most interior furnishings.
The staff member said a title search through MBD came back clean and that property taxes are current. Board members asked whether the district had the funds for the purchase; the chair responded that the funds would come from the "t 3 fund," as referred to during the meeting. The staff member said the seller plans to vacate by the end of the month.
The board placed the purchase on the consent agenda for approval. A motion to buy the unit for $24,000 passed unanimously, recorded as 5-0. The staff member noted they have the current DMV registration on file but had not inspected the underside of the unit to verify axles or tires.
The district said the unit will be addressed in the teachers' policy to establish rent for the property. The meeting closed with staff thanking the board for holding the special session; the board set its next meeting for April 20 and adjourned at 06:21.
