Summary
The Harford County Board of Education voted unanimously to approve pools of candidates for elementary and secondary principal and assistant-principal positions and for pupil personnel workers, allowing the superintendent to place vetted candidates as vacancies arise.
The Harford County Board of Education voted unanimously to approve a slate of administrative and supervisory candidates the board said will form the superintendent’s placement pool.
Ben Richardson, assistant superintendent for human resources, presented the recommended pools for elementary and secondary principals, assistant principals and pupil personnel workers and asked the board to approve the candidates so the superintendent’s office can make placements as needs arise. Richardson read the candidate lists during the presentation.
Richardson said the pools include nominees for elementary principal (Emily S. Heisey; Heather R. McCauley and others), secondary principal candidates and recommended assistant principals and pupil personnel workers. "On behalf of the superintendent, I will be seeking the board's approval on the following pool positions," Richardson said.
A board member moved to approve the superintendent’s recommendations and Carol Bruce seconded. The board then took a roll-call vote; all members present voted yes and the motion passed.
The action does not assign specific individuals to particular schools; instead, the pools give the superintendent and executive staff pre-approved candidates from which to make placements during the year. The board did not discuss individual hires during the meeting.
The board adjourned following the vote; the next business meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 20 at 6 p.m.
