Applicant Craig Davis described a 20-by-30-foot prefabricated garage and said the structure is an affordable, quick solution: "They build it in 1 day." Several committee members and an abutter, Richard Gegenworth, pressed that a metal garage would be visible from multiple vantage points and would not be appropriate in the setting. Gegenworth said, "to put a metal garage there would be very visible and not appropriate at all."
After discussion about setbacks, ridgeline height (estimated about 12–13 feet) and screening by trees (committee members noted trees can fail in storms), a committee member moved "to deny application 26-A035 based on the metal feature of the garage." The motion carried by voice vote. The committee encouraged the applicant to return with plans showing a wooden structure or alternative materials and noted the applicant could resubmit after addressing the committee’s concerns.
The denial is administrative and may be appealed within the normal 10-calendar-day period after the decision is filed with the town clerk.
