Carson City outlines timeline for transition to Tyler public‑safety system; officials say testing is under way

Jerome Tashband, who described himself as the project lead, said teams are actively testing the system and migrating about 20–25 years of legacy data. "This is massive...it involves IT, the DA's office, the fire department, the courts," he said, and noted mission‑critical partners and vendor staff are on site for testing. Tashband outlined a phased schedule: the jail is scheduled for April 20, dispatch/mobile/RMS are to be turned on about June 2, and the city expects to be fully off the Tiburon system roughly 10 days after that.
Frank Bell, the city CIO, said the selection favored sustainability and cloud deployment to reduce on‑site maintenance and improve resilience. Project stakeholders said benefits should include redundancy, faster updates and potential CAD‑to‑CAD connections with neighboring agencies; officials cautioned that some interfaces will require additional funding on both sides.
Project leaders reported active internal testing and action‑item lists (about 185–200 internal items) and said most costs are currently encumbered or allocated. "We're on track and on budget," one presenter told the board, while noting overtime and training may increase as go‑live approaches.
Why it matters: The system underpins emergency dispatch, records, jail management and evidence handling. Officials said the migration aims to improve continuity, reduce duplicate entries and enhance interoperability with neighboring jurisdictions if interfaces are funded.
