Carson City School District lists completed and planned capital projects, from bathrooms to track resurfacing

Carson City — The Board received a detailed facilities update on Jan. 27 from district project manager Mark Johnson listing recently finished work and planned capital projects.

Johnson said recent summer work included bathroom remodels and an office suite conversion at Carson Middle School, greenhouse finalization, a reconstructed parking lot, LED stadium lighting and a donated athletic ticket booth at the football field. The district refreshed multiple gyms and libraries, completed roofing projects at nine sites, and performed slurry sealing and playground seal coats across several campuses. Terrace Park (5.4 acres) was acquired from the city and has seen court and paving renovations.

Planned projects include phased replacements of Carson High air handlers (multi‑summer effort), track resurfacing after about a dozen years of wear, secure single‑point entry installations at several sites, elevator modernization at Bordewick and other targeted summer refreshes of performing‑arts and concession areas. Johnson flagged abatement and asbestos work as a precursor to some hallway renovations and said bids for several major projects have recently come in.

The presentation included photos and timelines; trustees thanked facilities staff and asked clarifying questions about scheduling and impacts to school operations. No formal action was required.
