Board approves bond-sale resolution and clarifies change orders for Bowditch and Sunnybrae

The San Mateo-Foster City School District board on April 25 approved a resolution allowing the district to proceed with a bond sale to fund construction projects identified as Fiesta Gardens North and North Central.

District staff said the bond proceeds will help construct those school projects. "This is permitting us to move forward with the bond sale that's going to fund the projects Fiesta Gardens North and North Central," a staff presenter said; the board approved the resolution by roll call.

Separately, trustees discussed a change order that added Sunnybrae restrooms to a Bowditch contract. Trustee members asked for clarification about why Sunnybrae work appeared under the Bowditch contract and how costs are being tracked. Amy (district staff) explained that the Sunnybrae restroom scope is part of the Measure T program and "was added to this contract as a change order" because of contractor and dollar-threshold permissibility; she said the district tracks both scopes with separate line items in its financial system and will present separate totals next month.

Trustees asked for more project-level budget reporting. A trustee requested a "budget to actual by project" in the next construction update so the board can see how major projects are tracking against their budgets.

The change order documents referenced a combined total of "$3.77" (the transcript does not specify units); Amy said she will break out subtotals and funding-source detail in her May presentation. The district noted two funding streams were involved for the change order, including Measure T and a second fund abbreviated in the meeting materials.

All motions related to the consent and construction items were approved by roll-call votes recorded in open session.
