The Carson City Planning Commission voted June 25 to recommend that the Board of Supervisors approve CC Nevada LLC’s request to abandon approximately 28,102 square feet of roadway easement and public right‑of‑way along Airport Road near 899 North Lompa Lane.
Staff planner Heather Ferris said the easement areas are remnants following a realignment of Airport Road and that staff could make the required findings for abandonment if the six recommended conditions are met, including dedication of certain right‑of‑way areas to the city and establishment of easements for Southwest Gas infrastructure and a storm‑drain outfall. Stacy Huggins of Wood Rogers, representing the applicant, said the conditions were acceptable.
Commissioners characterized the proposal largely as a cleanup measure to reconcile remnant easements with current road alignments. Commissioner Crone asked whether utility easements beyond Southwest Gas should be required; Ferris said Southwest Gas was the only utility that identified infrastructure in the immediate area. A motion to recommend approval to the Board of Supervisors passed with a unanimous vote.
