Commission appoints planning member, approves subdivisions and publishes county handbook

The Big Horn County Commission approved a set of routine administrative and land-use items and heard a community publication release at its Feb. 4 meeting.
Deputy County Clerks Marquerite VanDyke and Carol Willard presented accounts payable and payroll for approval; Commissioner Bruce Jolley moved to approve the listed items and the motion was seconded and carried. The vendor list and amounts are recorded in the official minutes.
P. Thur reported that the Planning and Zoning Commission requested the appointment of Scott Burnham; Commissioner Jolley moved to appoint Burnham to the Planning and Zoning Commission and the motion was seconded and carried. Thur also presented Simple Subdivisions SS 24-006 and SS 24-008 as recommended by Planning and Zoning; Commissioner Dave Neves moved to approve both and the motions carried.
In Old and New Business, the commission approved minutes from the Jan. 21, 2025 meeting and approved the resubmitted SLIB application package for Big Horn County Fire District #2. Commissioners also noted bonds and routine filings presented under "Good of the County"; County Clerk Lori Smallwood certified the minutes for the Feb. 4 meeting.
Representatives of Big Horn County Citizens for Economic Development, including Nolan ONeal and B. Hayes, together with partners from conservation districts and Weed and Pest, officially released the Big Horn County Handbook, a collaborative publication of local resources and guidance. Nolan ONeal reviewed the distribution plan, which will begin immediately.
Ending: The commission completed routine approvals and authorized staff follow-up on items requiring additional information or later action.
