Commission accepts WYDOT road project, discusses Road 20 easement and Game and Fish review

The Big Horn County Commission approved acceptance of the GP Road project completed with the Wyoming Department of Transportation and discussed follow-up on a separate easement dispute for Road 20 at its Feb. 4 meeting.
M. Leonhardt, attending on behalf of W. Bridges, presented an acceptance certificate for the GP Road project completed in partnership with WYDOT and told commissioners the project punch list has been completed. Commissioner Dave Neves moved to approve the certificate; the motion was seconded and carried.
Leonhardt and Commissioner Bruce Jolley reviewed documents indicating the county easement for Road 20 was established when the road was moved around ponds and that fencing was addressed with prior owners and via a resolution. Mann clarified that county maintenance ends three-tenths of a mile beyond the current cattle guard and said Wyoming Game and Fish will have to determine what activities they will allow across the easement beyond the maintained road.
Deputy County Attorney Jennifer Kirk will follow up with the landowner and realtor after they have received the agreement and resolution; the commission deferred any final decisions pending Game and Fish guidance and the landowner's review.
Ending: The commission ratified the WYDOT project acceptance and instructed staff to pursue the Road 20 follow-up, including coordination with Wyoming Game and Fish and correspondence to the landowner.
