Summary
Staff said the city will press for state bonding (including asking the state to fund 80% of the South Tower project), previewed an industrial-park funding request, and reported REX bid results with Harrison Renewable Energy named as the successful bidder; staff will bring a sale authorization to the commission at the next meeting.
Keith updated the Water and Lake Commission March 18 on upcoming legislative and procurement matters the city will pursue. He said he will attend the MMUA legislative conference to request state bonding support, including a proposal the state cover 80% of a South Tower project, and that an industrial park funding request may total several million dollars.
Keith also reviewed REC/REX sales activity. He said the older REX parcel put out for bid totaled 72,138 units and that the high bid came in at $20,004.62; WAPA’s 2025 allocation of 65,824 REX will be put through a bidding process with the aim of bringing sale authorization for commission approval at the next meeting. Keith identified Harrison Renewable Energy as the successful bidder for the earlier lot and said staff will follow up with the bidder and bring paperwork to the commission.
No bond or sale authorization votes were taken at the March 18 meeting; Keith said he will bring formal requests and sale approvals to future meetings.
