The Town of West Jefferson Board of Aldermen voted to adopt the fiscal year 2025-26 budget ordinance and the town’s Schedule of Fees at a special meeting on June 16, 2025.
Mayor Tom Hartman opened a public hearing on the proposed FY 2025-26 town operating budget at 4:02 p.m., noting that the county had approved its budget with a fire tax increase. With no members of the public offering comment, Mayor Hartman closed the hearing one minute later.
Alderman John Reeves moved to approve the FY 2025-26 Budget Ordinance as presented; Alderwoman Shelton seconded. The ordinance passed by a 4-0 vote. Later in the meeting, Alderman Calvin Green moved to adopt the FY 2025-26 Schedule of Fees; Alderman Reeves seconded and that motion also passed 4-0.
The meeting record shows routine, uncontroversial action: votes were unanimous among members present and there was no recorded debate or public input on the measures. The board then voted 4-0 to adjourn.
