Police Chief (speaking about facility needs) described the responses to a public RFP: "For the roof I would like to use a Greenland business... and the reason we want to go with him in addition to him being from Greenland is he was the only one that offers metal in all of the valleys, which... is supposed to elongate the life overall of the roof," the chief said, noting the locally based contractor offered an upgraded shingle at the same price. For HVAC, the chief recommended an East Coast HVAC firm the town previously used that offered a higher‑BTU, higher‑efficiency unit.
The choices favored slightly higher bids than the lowest offers (the roof vendor about $2,100 over the lowest bid; the HVAC option about $2,300 over the lowest) but the chief and staff said the board should consider longevity and prior working relationships when choosing contractors. The board approved a motion authorizing the trustees of the trust fund to release funds as requested by the chief; the motion carried by voice vote.
Next steps: staff will coordinate scheduling with the selected contractors and report back on expected timelines for installation and any warranty or service arrangements.
