Red Bank council: Marine Park work begins; streetscape nearly finished and other projects advance

Mayor William Portman opened the Sept. 11 meeting of the Red Bank Borough Council with proclamations marking childhood cancer awareness, International Day of Peace, Hispanic Heritage Month and a 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance. After routine business, borough staff provided several capital‑project updates and the council approved the consent agenda.
A borough staff member reported that preliminary work on the Marine Park improvement project began the day of the meeting. "CME, our engineer, will be on‑site with the contractor just going over some last details and test fitting for the force main that's under Marine Park," the staff member said, adding that tree work and grading are scheduled to start next week. The staff member said contractors had performed site preparation, installed erosion‑control fencing and that tree work and initial grading would continue.
The staff member also updated the council on other capital projects. On the Count Basie bleacher retrofit, the borough is awaiting a design from CME's structural team and plans to go out to bid after final design. Monmouth Street's streetscape project was reported as roughly 98% complete, with the remaining punch list items to be finished next week; Hubbard Park continues to undergo sanitary sewer replacement, with trenches set to settle for a 90‑day period before resurfacing and curb work.
The council approved a package of consent agenda resolutions (25‑190 through 25‑197) by roll call. The motion to adopt the consent agenda was moved and seconded and recorded as a roll‑call vote with affirmative responses from members present.
The meeting closed after routine committee reports and an adjournment motion.
The council's next meeting date was not specified during the update; staff said additional coordination on project timing will occur as the engineer and contractor finalize schedules.
