Wildwood Crest commissioners introduce two ordinances, approve contracts and grants and authorize closed session on dune litigation

The Wildwood Crest Board of Commissioners on Dec. 4 introduced two ordinances on first reading, approved several small contract and budget resolutions and voted to enter executive session to discuss potential litigation tied to the borough's dune/flood-mitigation project.
Clerk read Ordinance No. 14‑41 (rescinding Ordinance No. 14‑40 and amending Chapter 32A on general fees) and Ordinance No. 14‑42 (amending multiple land-development sections, including low- and semi-low-density residential zones and landscaping provisions). Each ordinance was moved, seconded and scheduled for second and final reading with public hearings on Dec. 18, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. The motions passed on unanimous roll calls.
The commission adopted a series of resolutions by motion or consent, including: a $3,000 contract increase to Star Septic LLC for portable toilets; a $7,250 professional-services contract for dune-restoration consulting with Peter Lomax; appropriation transfers; closing certain municipal court accounts with Press Savings Bank and authorizing signatories; a budget amendment to accept a Drive Sober/ Get Pulled Over grant and acceptance of a $2,800 award from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety (12/1/2024–1/1/2025) with CFO authorization to pay flat rates to law enforcement; and a $2,500 increase to Skirinsky & Hollenbeck LLC for special counsel. The board also approved release of escrow funds for three permits (SO23‑O802: $72,750; SO23‑O705: $1,633.75; SO23‑O703: $477.50) and a motion to pay all properly authorized bills.
Mayor stated that the dune-restoration consulting contract is related to work at the Beach Patrol storage yard and that the borough remains engaged with state and federal partners on larger flood-mitigation work.
Finally, the board voted to enter executive session under NJSA 10:4‑12(b) to discuss two items of potential litigation: one concerning the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (dune project) and another listed as 'NJ PACS.' The motion to close was moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
Next steps: both ordinances return for final hearing and vote Dec. 18; the closed‑session discussion on potential litigation will follow the public meeting. No formal settlements or litigation outcomes were announced at the public session.
