Members discussed logistics including whether the plaza or a street block could be used and whether a permit would be needed to block the street.
The group reviewed last year’s donor spreadsheet and program lineup and debated how to secure culturally appropriate performances and a keynote speaker. Members suggested outreach to elected officials for discretionary funding and to community groups such as Morris Park and neighborhood performance venues for entertainment and cultural programming.
Board members agreed to compile last year’s donations and program materials and to follow up with outreach to elected representatives and local partners. The committee did not vote on a final date or budget; members noted planning must continue and that timelines are tight with Juneteenth approaching.
