Conservation commission issues order of conditions for Maple Street sidewalk; inspection required

The Northborough Conservation Commission voted on April 13 to close the hearing and issue an order of conditions for the Maple Street sidewalk project after a site visit and follow‑up inspections.

Chair Greg Young led the vote after the applicant’s representative reported that the site visit showed wetlands only at the two ends of the project and that most work was in previously disturbed areas. The commission made the order subject to standard conditions and asked staff to inspect erosion controls once they are installed.

The applicant representative told the commission the project would likely rely on a MassDOT grant. “My expectation is this project will be funded through a MassDOT grant, likely the Safe Routes to School grant,” the representative said.

Commissioners said the remaining items were minor and that a site inspection would clear standard conditions. The roll‑call vote recorded Dan Clark, Justin Dufresne and Sadie Stone voting in favor; the hearing was closed and the order issued.

The applicant was told to return with further documentation in later phases as construction details are developed and to coordinate any required letters of support from other town boards or funding entities.

The commission noted it will inspect the site after erosion controls are in place and will review any requested modifications at a subsequent meeting.
