Board approves 180th Road closure, waterline petition and routine grants and expenses

Cloud County commissioners unanimously approved closing a stretch of 180th Road, granted a petition for a waterline on Teal Road, received two Wind Farm grant applications and approved hires, abatements and $154,112.85 in expenses.
The Cloud County Board of Commissioners on March 23 approved a series of routine infrastructure and fiscal items.
By unanimous motion (Copple/Kearn) the board approved closing 180th Road south of Union Road and north of the Republican River. The board also approved a petition from Dennis Reedy for a waterline on Teal Road east of 190th Road; that motion was moved by Commissioner Kearn and seconded by Commissioner Copple and recorded as unanimous.
Highway/Weed Administrator Rod Michaud reported the county will shut down one lane of a bridge near Acorn & 10th and will apply for repair funding; he said repair costs would be split with Ottawa County.
The board received a Wind Farm grant application from the Glasco County Club requesting $50,000 toward a clubhouse project with a listed total project amount of between $84,125 and $149,125; the application included proposals to purchase equipment, expand and surface parking, brick the front of the building, convert the old clubhouse into a cart shed and plant 25 trees. The transcript records receipt of the application; no award was recorded at the meeting.
The board acknowledged hiring Kellie M. Roush and Valerie A. Hamilton as corrections officers effective March 16, 2026. It approved expenses totaling $154,112.85 across funds (detailed fund totals were read into the record and are available via the County Clerk) and approved abatements 2026‑102 through 2026‑106 with a net change of ($156.59) and a refund of $41.46. The board also approved the March 16, 2026 minutes and adjourned at 2:40 p.m.
