Summary
Kevin Edwards of Synergistic told the board the district has an ongoing energy reduction of about 24% and is "on the cusp of passing $20,000,000 in savings." Multiple campuses earned 2024 Energy Star certification; Red Bluff Elementary was noted as a first‑time recipient.
Kevin Edwards, the client manager for Synergistic, briefed the board Oct. 22 on Pasadena ISD’s energy conservation program and recognized district campuses that earned 2024 Energy Star certification.
Edwards said the district’s energy program — launched in 2019 — has produced sustained energy reductions and cost containment and that the district is “on the cusp of passing $20,000,000 in savings” with an ongoing 24% reduction in energy use. He explained Energy Star certification is based on verified energy performance; certified buildings rank in the top 25% of peers nationwide and typically use about 35% less energy than non‑certified peers.
Edwards read a list of recognized campuses and singled out Red Bluff Elementary as achieving the certification for the first time. The recipients included Beverly Hills Intermediate, Collaborative Learning, Adobe Ninth Grade Campus, Frank Braden Center, Golden Acres Elementary School, Kendrick Middle School, LF Smith Elementary, Moore Elementary, Pomeroy Elementary, Red Bluff Elementary, Sparks Elementary and Teague Elementary. Edwards said each school would receive a trophy and a banner intended for campus lobbies.
The presentation stressed staff and facilities teamwork and thanked specific district maintenance and facilities staff who contributed to the program’s success. No formal board action was required; the recognition was provided for information and celebration.
