County approves airport electrical work, MDOT contract and small IT/EMS renewals

Oscoda County commissioners approved several finance and contract items affecting airport operations, emergency services and county IT during their Feb. 25 meeting.
The board approved a service agreement with J. Ranck Electric, Inc. to install Runway 28 PAPI lights at Dennis Kauffman Memorial Airport for $49,500, to be paid from the airport contracted services budget (motion 2025-074). Commissioners also accepted a contract with the Michigan Department of Transportation (Federal Project No. B-26-0156-2122) covering taxiway and pavement work and agreed a county share of $3,529 (motion 2025-075). The board completed and authorized FAA documents related to consultant selection and drug-free workplace requirements (motion 2025-076).
Additionally, the board authorized EMS Director Robert Stankiewicz to pay up to $800 for an ActiveAlert subscription for the EMS department (motion 2025-077). Equalization Director Amber Woehlert explained the county’s mapping needs and the board renewed a Professional Services Agreement with Schneider Geospatial, LLC for Beacon Web Portal Services and parcel maintenance for Jan. 1, 2025–Dec. 31, 2027 (motion 2025-078). All motions passed by roll-call vote.
