Pasadena ISD board approves amendment to District of Innovation plan after TEA request

The Pasadena Independent School District Board of Trustees approved an amendment to the district’s District of Innovation local plan during a special meeting on Oct. 15, 2024, after a district staff member said the Texas Education Agency recommended removing one previously approved item.
A district staff member told trustees, “there were some changes that TEA recommended because even though they approved it in a previous plan, they were asking us to take it to, DEC again and to the board and remove that 1 item. So we just wanna make sure you're aware that that was, information that came to us from the state agency.” Motion to approve the amendment was made by Board Member Nilda Sullivan and seconded by Board Member Paola Gonzalez. The board voted “Aye” and the motion carried; no opposing votes were recorded on the transcript.
The amendment was presented to implement the state agency’s recommendation and to remove the single item identified by TEA from the local plan. The board considered the staff explanation and approved the amendment without further debate.
The board had recessed to closed session earlier and reconvened in open session at 1:09 p.m. to take the vote. The board then moved on to other agenda items and adjourned at 1:11 p.m.
