Oscoda County accepts $132,700 Recreation Passport grant; county to provide $33,200 match

Oscoda County will move forward with a Recreation Passport grant after the Board of Commissioners rescinded a previous resolution and adopted a project agreement for $132,700 (motions 2025-067 and 2025-068).
Park Manager Jimmy Vance told commissioners three sets of stairs require near-term work and estimated a stair-specific budget amendment around $5,000–$6,000. County Administrator Michelle Knepp said the county match requirement is $33,200 (25%) and noted $27,138.29 remains in appropriated marijuana funds that could be applied toward the match; staff will research options to find the remaining roughly $6,000. Knepp said the county must front project costs and seek reimbursement through the grant and that a kickoff meeting with the project coordinator is set for March 4, 2025 to discuss phased implementation and reimbursement timing.
The board voted to adopt Resolution 2025-003 and authorize the chair to sign the project agreement.
