The committee voted to forward Communication 664 — the nomination of Colin Murrah to the Board of Water Supply — to the full council with a favorable recommendation.
The mayor’s office representative introduced Murrah, corrected a clerical error in the transmittal (term to expire in 2029, not 2030) and praised his decades of community volunteerism and business leadership. Patricia Cook testified in support, citing Murrah’s community leadership and prior work with local schools and Blue Zones initiatives.
Murrah spoke briefly to the committee, thanked members for the opportunity and said he looked forward to serving. Council members asked about priorities for water access, support for agriculture and aging infrastructure. Members repeatedly expressed confidence in Murrah’s community ties and service history; several said those endorsements were sufficient basis to move the nomination forward.
The committee closed the file on the nomination and forwarded a favorable recommendation to the full council by a recorded 9‑aye vote. The committee did not take additional staff or fiscal actions on the nomination; the full council will review the nomination and complete confirmation as appropriate.
