Council members praised Garcia’s community involvement. A council member said Garcia had long service on the planning commission and described him as “a wonderful, wonderful guy,” calling the forthcoming dedication appropriate for the neighborhood.
Councilman Miranda moved first reading; the motion was seconded by Councilman Maniscalco. The council approved the motion by voice vote; the clerk announced the motion carried unanimously with Councilman Carlson and Councilmember Hertack absent. Second reading and adoption is scheduled for April 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in City Council Chambers.
The ordinance is limited to installing an honorary street name sign at the specified intersection and does not change official street names or addressing. Staff said they received no public objections during the posting period and will return for the scheduled second reading.
