Separately, district staff announced the full rollout of the "Supper for All" after‑school meal program at El Monte City School District sites. A district official said the program provides a meal after dismissal to any student regardless of participation in after‑school activities; district data showed about 2,400 students (approximately 35% of enrollment) qualify to participate. The program launch was described as aligned with recent federal guidance changes affecting SNAP eligibility and intended to reduce afternoon hunger for students.
The board also recognized Maritza Duenas as the 2025 Babi Salcedo Esperanza award recipient for her role in dual‑language immersion, GATE leadership and summer STEAM programming. Members used the discussion session to report takeaways from the California School Boards Association conference, noting AI policy, legal guidance about responding to immigration enforcement on campuses, teacher well‑being, and potential governance and ethics procedure updates as themes for future work.
The board asked administration to continue bringing dashboard and program updates and to provide more detail on implementation and funding sources where relevant.
