Heard County commissioners approve rezoning to allow modular home on 1.41-acre lot

The Heard County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Oct. 15 to rezone a 1.41-acre parcel owned by Daniel and Tonya Reuter from Rural Development to Single-Family Residential so a modular home can be placed there.
Chase Hewett, who said he purchased the property from the Reuters and plans to relocate to Heard County with his wife, told the board he had purchased a water meter from the Heard County Water Authority to connect the lot to county water. Building and Zoning Director Macie Cassell told commissioners the parcel had been part of a larger tract and that a one-acre subdivision in 2000 created a nonconforming lot; she said approving the rezoning would bring the property into compliance.
On the motion by Commissioner David Walls, seconded by Commissioner Larry Hammond, the board approved the rezoning. The Planning Commission had recommended approval. No members of the public spoke in opposition during the hearing.
The board closed the public hearing on the application before taking the vote. The county clerk will record the county’s zoning map change and update property records as required.
