Summary
The board approved regular claims and purchase-card claims, accepted a set of consent items including an $11.46 million pavement preservation contract and a $2.56 million road reconditioning contract, authorized a settlement for claim 25-126 (amount not specified on record), and reappointed Jim Hafner to a watershed board.
At its April 14, 2026 meeting, the Anoka County Board of Commissioners approved a package of routine and consent items covering county claims, road contracts, a settlement authorization and a committee appointment.
The board unanimously approved a motion to accept regular claims greater than $500 and purchase-card claims for the period ending 03/23/2026 (motion by Commissioner Braastad; second by Commissioner Jepsen). The board also approved the March 24, 2026 minutes.
Transportation and contracts: Commissioner Heinrich outlined four transportation consent items placed on the consent calendar, including a countywide pavement-preservation contract to North Valley Inc for $11,457,987.06 and a $2,559,043.49 contract to Park Construction Company to recondition County Road 10 NE (Abel Street NE to Pleasant View Drive NE) in Spring Lake Park. "Item number 1 is a contract in the amount of $11,457,987.06 to North Valley Inc for countywide pavement preservation program," Commissioner Heinrich said while summarizing the committee report. The consent agenda — which also included cooperative agreements with MnDOT related to Highway 65 projects and a transfer of legislative funds to MnDOT for those projects — was approved by roll-call vote.
Settlement authorization and appointment: The board authorized the county attorney’s office and risk management to enter into a settlement agreement for claim 25-126; the transcript records that the settlement amount was discussed in closed session between risk management and the county attorney’s office but the dollar amount was not stated on the public record. The board also reappointed Jim Hafner to the (transcript-redacted) Creek Watershed District Board of Managers for a three-year term ending 05/27/2029; that motion carried unanimously.
Other votes: The board approved a facilities-management staffing restructure (consent item from the management committee) and adopted Resolution 2026-29 proclaiming April as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. Assistant Director Kevin McNallen described emergency communications operations and thanked the board for support.
What’s next: Several commissioners noted upcoming public hearings and community events (a public hearing on Bunker Beach fees is scheduled April 28), and the board adjourned to the public comment period.
