Romulus City Council on April 13 approved several administrative actions and purchases, including a $1,000,000 grant agreement to fund a fire apparatus, as requested by the mayor and fire chief.
Council concurred with administration and approved acceptance of the award from the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity; the motion passed with unanimous recorded votes. Mayor and staff thanked state legislators who assisted in securing the award.
Council also approved two procurement-related motions to piggyback on an Omnia Partners contract for Microsoft Office 365 and Exchange licenses from Zones Inc. for a one-time cost of $31,416 and to continue annual purchases and maintenance charged to budgeted line items. The motions were seconded and approved by voice vote.
The council approved change order number 5 to the City Hall east ramp repair project for $34,965 plus a $2,764 contingency to stabilize structural beams. Staff said funds were available and budgeted. Council introduced and approved two budget amendments: one (25-26-16) to cover a Ford Bronco and a medium pickup truck ($104,500) and another (25-26-17) to cover DPW software, City Hall heating/cooling and east ramp repairs ($127,000).
Council also approved a number of other routine items, including board appointment(s) and a warrant register totaling $3,333,434.68 across city funds.
What happens next: Contract procurements will proceed under the agreed vendor arrangements, change-order work is scheduled as part of ongoing East Ramp repairs, and budget amendments will be incorporated into the city’s financial planning and reporting.
