The West Orange Board of Education on Oct. 28 approved personnel items A1–A6, curriculum items B1–B4, and finance items including special services A1–A3 and business office items B1–B24 by roll call vote following motions from board members.
President Rock called for the roll on the personnel slate; Mister Stevenson moved the motion and it was seconded. Miss Flowers took the roll call; several board members recorded 'yes' votes and the motion carried. The curriculum and finance slates were similarly moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
President Rock read a list of retirees and their years of service: Jenny Garcia Resnick, special education teacher at Saint Cloud, 33 years; Kathleen Laszlo, fourth-grade teacher at Redwood Elementary, 25 years; Rosemarie Tan, school nurse at Liberty Middle School, 19 years; Annalie Ahmed, administrative assistant at the West Orange Early Learning Center, 9 years; Janice Lewis, floating nurse, 13 years; Michelle Pascal, lunch aide at Redwood Elementary, 35 years; and Alice Wigler, paraprofessional at Kelly Elementary, 10 years. Board members thanked the retirees for their service.
The board also acknowledged a donation from the Stop for Nikhil Foundation to Edison Middle School in recognition of that school's fundraising performance for the Stop for Nikhil walk.
There were no public commenters during the agenda or non‑agenda public comment periods. The board announced its next meeting for 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 11, 2024, at the West Orange High School Library Media Center and adjourned following a motion by Mister Stevenson.
