District honors Red Ribbon art winners and graduates of the Boundless teacher residency

Board recognized student winners of the Red Ribbon Art Week contest — several artworks will appear on a downtown billboard — and thanked mentors and staff for graduating five residents from the Boundless educator residency program.
Kim Cochran, the district staff member who presented the art contest awards, introduced grade-level winners and announced that the top three grand-prize artworks will be displayed on a large digital billboard at 17th Street West and Avenue K from January 26 through February 1. Cochran invited families forward for photographs and thanked the advertising sponsor that made the billboard display possible.
The board also recognized graduates of the Boundless (formerly "Better") Educator Teacher Residency program. Staff described the residency as a calendar-year partnership with a local university that pairs resident teachers with mentor teachers and college coursework; the residency includes classroom mentoring and professional learning and is designed to prepare teachers for long-term district employment. Several residents and mentors were named and thanked during the meeting.
Trustees and administrators commended teachers, mentors and families for their roles in the students' and residents' accomplishments. No formal board action was required for recognitions.
