Summary
The commission approved three administrative review permits (a crystal shop, a tourist rooming house, and a 24-hour gym) and a building-mounted sign; one permit for a tourist rental passed 5-1 over a zoning objection.
At its March 31 meeting the Minocqua Plan Commission approved multiple administrative permits and a sign application.
Carla Blankenship of Oneida County Planning presented ARP #06-26 for a crystal and rock retail shop at 8532 Highway 51, Unit 6 (applicant Margaret Flesch, owner Bella Trova LLC). Blankenship said the location is zoned Business B-1, parking meets the four-space requirement with 42 spaces available on site, and the commission approved the permit 6-0.
Blankenship then presented ARP #07-26 (applicant and owner Daniel Espinosa) to rent a dwelling as a tourist rooming house at 709 Cedar Street in a Single-Family zoning district. She said occupancy is determined by the Health Department under Code ATCP 70 and the property shows six parking spaces where four are required. Chairman Mark Hartzheim noted the town’s seven-day minimum rental period remains in effect. The commission approved ARP #07-26 by voice vote 5-1; Member Billy Fried voted no, citing concerns about single-family zoning.
Blankenship also presented ARP #08-26 and Sign Permit #04-26 for Minocqua Commercial Properties LLC (applicant Steven Brill) to operate a 24-hour strength-training gym at 8516 USH 51, Unit 1, and to place a 62.47-square-foot building-mounted sign. The 24-hour gym is in Business B-2 zoning, is in the sanitary district, and has 225 parking spaces available (29 required). The commission approved both the ARP and the sign permit 6-0.
All three administrative permits and the sign application were recommended to the Town Board or approved by the commission as presented during the meeting.
