Newark Unified School District held a swearing‑in ceremony for three newly elected board members at the start of its regular meeting.
The superintendent introduced the new trustees—Aiden Hill (returning member), Austin Block and Gabriel Anguiano Jr.—and asked invited guests to assist with administering the oaths. Austin Block and Gabriel Anguiano Jr. recited the oath of office, pledging to support the U.S. and California constitutions and to faithfully discharge the duties of the office. The district then welcomed Aiden Hill, who also completed the oath and introduced student guests who participated in the ceremony.
Mayor Hannon attended and offered brief remarks thanking outgoing board members Duane and Pankarte for their service, saying he looked forward to a collaborative relationship between the city and the school board on education, housing and community priorities. The superintendent invited attendees to a reception in the boardroom after the ceremony.
The ceremony was followed by the board calling the business meeting to order and moving to organizational items and regular business.
