Committee reviews Bass River redesign options, flags wetlands and wastewater questions
Summary
Staff presented Bass River master-plan options—reversing holes 5 and 6, moving hole 10, and adding short‑game and sand-area variants—and said permitting and wastewater questions must be resolved before advancing designs; committee will discuss again in August.

Staff brought preliminary master-plan options for the Bass River course that would reconfigure several holes and create space for a short‑game/practice area.
Key proposed changes include reversing the routing of holes 5 and 6 to address safety and playability, moving hole 10 closer to hole 15 to declutter an existing area and make room for a short‑game practice area, and converting hole 7 from par 5 to par 4. Two layout variants were shown: one that incorporates multiple sand/waste areas at selected holes and a second option that omits those sand features. Staff emphasized the sand placements shown are optional locations and not mandatory across every hole.
Committee members asked about wetlands and permitting. Staff said they will work with conservation staff (Britney and others were named in the discussion) to confirm buffer impacts and wetlands constraints; they also flagged outstanding wastewater questions that could change where or how work proceeds. "We're in the process of, first step with Britney to make sure that we all the permits would fly through," staff said, and added that if permitting feedback identifies constraints, the plan will be adjusted.
Members asked for more detail on construction timeline and potential environmental impacts. Staff said design work will continue but emphasized that construction would not occur until permits and wastewater clarifications are secured. The committee asked members to review the two options and return feedback at the next meeting in August so staff can give direction to the designer (Tim) and move to more detailed drawings.
