County staff advises against vacating portion of Innsbruck Drive; Board asks for further review

The Board was briefed on March 9, 2026, about an application by the owner of Lot 71 to vacate a portion of Innsbruck Drive at the end of the roadway. Joshua Fredrickson said Innsbruck Drive was part of the Hyak Estates plat recorded in 1967 and later became county right-of-way following a 1996 Road Improvement District project, at which time the county assumed ownership and maintenance responsibilities.
Fredrickson said the requested vacation would extend to the edge of pavement and could affect the area that might otherwise support a future cul-de-sac or turnaround. Public Works does not currently support the vacation request, citing concerns that vacating the area could limit future roadway improvements and complicate snow removal operations and emergency vehicle access. He added that the application is sufficient to proceed through the required process, including a future public hearing and preparation of a director's or engineer's report.
The Board asked Public Works to conduct additional review and return the matter to a future study session; the minutes do not show a formal vote on vacating the roadway at this meeting.
