On March 9, 2026, the Kittitas County Board of Commissioners approved Resolution 2026-052 authorizing the Board chair to sign deeds to acquire additional right-of-way on Bullfrog Road to accommodate a roundabout tied to the Bullfrog Flats development in the City of Cle Elum.
Joshua Fredrickson, Public Works staff, told the board that a traffic study linked to the development identified the need for a roundabout at one proposed intersection and that the existing right-of-way "is approximately 60 feet, which is insufficient for the proposed roundabout." He said the developer worked with adjacent property owners to obtain additional right-of-way and that deeds for those acquisitions were included in the board materials.
Fredrickson said the roundabout would be constructed at the developer's expense, subject to county review and approval, and that Kittitas County would own and maintain the roundabout pavement surface while related improvements such as lighting and utilities would remain outside county ownership.
Vice Chairman Brett Wachsmith moved to approve Resolution 2026-052; Commissioner Laura Osiadacz seconded the motion. The motion passed.
The deed authorizations are intended to allow the county to accept the right-of-way conveyances and proceed with the review and eventual maintenance responsibilities once the roundabout is constructed; the board record does not include a detailed vote tally in the minutes.
