The Aliso Viejo City Council approved a conditional use permit permitting alcohol sales at Vox Kitchen, a new restaurant located at 26511 Aliso Creek Road in the Aliso Viejo Commons.
Assistant Planner Michael presented the application, saying the request is for a Type 47 ABC license, which permits the sale of beer, wine and distilled spirits for restaurants. "Vox Kitchen, which specializes in Peruvian-Asian fusion cuisine, is requesting a Type 47 ABC license to permit the sale of beer, wine, and distilled spirits," the planner said, adding that proposed hours of operation are daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. He also noted the restaurant previously received a minor conditional use permit and building permits have been issued for improvements.
Councilmembers asked clarifying questions about the Type 47 license and the minor CUP process; the planner explained the minor CUP is processed administratively in the Commons specific plan and that the Type 47 is the license class for restaurants that include distilled spirits as well as beer and wine.
The public hearing opened; no speaker cards were submitted. A member of the public offered a separate suggestion about housing in an unrelated comment but did not address the restaurant application directly. A councilmember moved and another seconded the resolution; the council approved the conditional use permit by voice vote.
The resolution authorizes alcohol sales under the conditions described in the staff report; staff will proceed with any remaining administrative permits and ABC licensing steps.
